What is Magic the Gathering

Magic is a tradable card game (TCG) where you build your collection of cards by trading with your friends, assembling decks of cards, and battling against an opponent and their deck. You cast powerful spells and summon monstrous creatures aiming to knock your opponent down from 20 life to zero. The game is constantly changing as new cards are released throughout the year. As you get new cards, whether from these new sets or through trading with your friends, you can continuously update your decks and discover a whole new game!

Magic the Gathering Events

Before we were selling board games we were running events and selling Magic the Gathering cards! Magic is now one of the most popular games in the world and we have games happening every week in the store. We try to run more casual and friendly events in the store. New and old players are always welcome!

Current Set Leagues (Limited) Rules:

Duration: Every League runs four weeks.

Getting Started: Each player will be given three booster packs, a league match sheet (other side of this sheet) and a check list of the set of cards being used when they join the league. After opening each pack the player must fill out their checklist (failing to do so will lead to a disqualification). Following that the player will then build a minimum 30-card deck from their three boosters and play as many matches as they like (Hint: Players have found a 17-18 spell vs 12-13 land ratio to work best). These cards and the deck will be kept at the store.

How to play: Play 'best of three (3)' matches against other participants. We use current tournament mulligan rules. After the match, mark down your records on your League Score card and bring everything back to an employee.

When can we play? Any time during store hours! Work out a meeting time with another league player and meet up at the store.

Point system break-down:
One (1) point awarded per match win.
One (1) point awarded per match played.
One (1) point awarded for each unique player played against.
One (1) additional point awarded if the unique player is unique to all previous weeks
(Only during week 2,3 and 4)
Maximum points that can be achieved for the entire league is 45

Maximum of 3 matches a week will count towards your score and only the first 3 matches count towards "match wins."

Examples:
Player A plays 3 different players (B, C and D) week 1. Win or lose – Player A makes a minimum of 6 points (3 for playing, 3 for each player being unique) and a maximum of 9 points. Week 2 Player A plays three (3) more games where one (1) of those three (3) is a unique player than the players Player A played against in week 1 (Player E). Player A now makes a minimum of 7 points and a maximum of 10 (see table bellow for visual example).
